The Boris Hanžeković memorial is the oldest sports event in Croatia. It has been held since 1951 in honor of the tragically deceased athlete Boris Hanžeković. From 2020, the meeting is part of the Continental Tour Gold category.

Boris Hanžeković Memorial is also a great promoter of Croatian athletics, whose goal, in addition to popularizing sports, is to encourage our athletes to achieve even better results.

Zagreb will host top world athletes from more than 130 countries for three days. This three-day sports event provides a unique athletic spectacle that delights thousands of spectators every year, and is broadcast by TV stations in more than 150 countries around the world.

It all starts on May 21st at 2 pm at the National and University Library, where a unique exhibition "An Indelible Trace in World Athletics - Boris Hanžeković Memorial" opens, with free admission for all visitors. The exhibition brings an invaluable cross-section of the history of the meeting and Croatian athletics through the medals of our most trophy-winning athletes, legendary moments from the field, fan memories and a rich archive in collaboration with the Croatian Sports Museum.

This year's edition of the Memorial will be held at two attractive locations: the Ivan Ivančić Memorial on May 22nd with the shot put and the Zagreb City Challenge on May 23rd with the high jump. Both events are held at the City Fountains. Both events always attract huge audience interest.
The 75th anniversary Boris Hanžeković Memorial is traditionally held at the Mladost Sports Park on Saturday, May 24th. The world's best athletes will compete in different athletic disciplines, providing spectators with unforgettable moments and the ultimate sports experience.
This year, the meeting celebrates not only sporting excellence, but also a 75-year-long heritage, which is confirmed by the awarding of the prestigious IAAF Plaque for exceptional contribution to the development of world athletics - an award that will be ceremonially presented on May 24th.
