Trogir Cathedral of St. Lawrence Live

You are just looking at the old town of Trogir, which in 1997 was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as an example of a well-preserved Romanesque island town.

Around the Square of John Paul the Second the centre of Trogir, all historical sights and monuments in Trogir are located here and also it is the stage for various events during the summer evenings in Trogir and during the winter season too, such as Winter Adventures. Around the John Paul II Square stand the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, The Bell Tower, The Town Lodge and the Cipiko Palace.

Trogir Cathedral of St. Lawrence is one of the most famous monuments in Trogir and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The construction of The Cathedral of St. Lawrence lasted over 4 centuries. The cathedral of St. Lawrence possesses a variety of different styles, of which the Roman style prevails. The Cathedral of St. Lawrence is also the tallest building in Trogir, it is 47 meters high. Its interior preserves statues, paintings and other artefacts, which testify of the rich cultural and historical heritage in this area. It was renovated in 2002 as part of a project by the American Venetian Hertiage Foundation.

Opposite the cathedral stands the votive Church of St. Sebastian, built in the middle of the 15th century in gratitude for saving the city from the plague. Instead of a bell tower it has an amazing City Clock Tower. The Town Lodge, right next to the votive church, used to be a public building, a shelter, a gathering place, but also a courtroom. The rich reliefs are the work of Nikola Firentinac and Ivan Meštrović.

Opposite to the Cathedral of St. Lawrence is located The Palace Ćipiko which was home of one noble family from Trogir, the Ćipiko family. In the Palace Ćipiko you can see many works of various famous Croatian Painters and Sculptors of all times.

You can enjoy drinking coffee in a very popular cafe bar Corte at the main citty square and at the same time enjoy the view of the cathedral, town clock and palaces.
