Cilnica Square is the largest square in the city and the oldest and most famous market in this area.It has a rich tradition and offers local gastronomic products and handicrafts.It is known for its atmosphere and tradition, so it is a favorite place for locals and tourists.
In the middle of Cilnica there is a classicist fountain, which was renovated in 1845 by the famous builder of the first modern roads in western Croatia, Kajetan Knežić. The fountain definitely adds to the charm of this square.
Various events are held on this square throughout the year, such as traditional fairs, manifestations dedicated to local culture, gastronomic festivals, as well as concerts and cultural performances. The International Folklore and Dance Festival in July (Adriatic Music and Dance Festival) and the International Senj Summer Carnival (August) are the most famous and most visited events on Cilnica Square.
The Senj City Museum is located there, which is significant and provides insight into the rich history of Senj, as is the City Library. Cilnica Square, Pavlin Square and Potok Street, the locations where our webcams are located, are quite connected both through history and through an architectural perspective. Namely, Pavlin Square was the center of the Pauline Monastery, while Cilnica Square was important for trade, and Potok Street connects these spaces and is often seen as part of a larger urban fabric. All of this together forms a coherent whole in the very heart of Senj.
