The settlement of Ivanja Rijeka belongs to the city of Zagreb, ie the Pečenica - Žitnjak district. It is assumed that the name of the settlement came from a derivative of the personal name Ivan and a stream of the nearby Sava river, and the inhabitants of the neighborhood called it a river.

In a very short period of time, the parish church was completely renovated and prepared for the dedication of Cardinal Josip Bozanić in 2013.
